UK Housing Minister Grant

UK Housing Minister Grant Shapps visited Almere in the Netherlands yesterday.
The Minister visited the Netherlands to see what lessons can be learnt from the highly successful Dutch self-build industry.

Global Architects informed the UK delegations about the project Little Amsterdam in the Homeruskwartier the largest self-building neighbourhood of the Netherlands.

Human Involved Architecture

Currently Global Architects, studio Ginko and Kiemkracht started the research “Human Involved Architecture”. The research is made possible by a grant from The Netherlands Architecture Fund, The Hague University, Technical University Delft, WSA Urban Revelopment, and AT Osborne. The research has been commissioned by the municipality of The Hague in The Netherlands.

Kickoff Homeruskwartier

On Friday the 28th of October is started with the construction of the Centre in Homeruskwartier Almere. The centre will be developed completely according to the Dutch concept CPO: the future residents join together in a cooperative, and have the ability to design and develop their own apartments. Envisaged by the municipality of Almere is a city centre dominated by diversity, as in the historical centre of the nearby capital Amsterdam.
